The provincial capital Brescia is Lombardy’s second most important city after Milan. Brescia has a fairly important textile and metal industry (including shotguns) and is also the trading centre for products from the whole region. The old town is the largest Roman archaeological area in Northern Italy and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ancient Brixia had been a Roman colony since Emperor Augustus. The old town, which is worth seeing, has a square ground plan and contains not only remains from the early Roman imperial period, but also beautiful Renaissance buildings. The old Visconti Castle towers over the city. There are beautiful squares (Piazza del Duomo, Piazza Loggia and Piazza della Vittoria) with imposing buildings (Duomo Nuovo, Rotonda, Torre del Popolo) and the old Roman city with the Tempio Capitolino and the Museo Romano, as well as impressive museums such as the Museo Santa Giulia and the Museo dell’Età Cristiana. For car lovers, there is the Museo Mille Miglia. Brescia is well worth a visit.

The breathtaking Archeological park of the Roman poet Catullo’s Villa. Built between the end of the 1st century B.C. and the beginning of the 1st century A.D. in an excellent panoramic position, at the extreme tip of Sirmione peninsula, is the most important example of a high-class residence in the whole of northern Italy.
Just after the entrance to the archaeological park you can visit the Museum, where objects brought to light during the excavation of the villa, and in archaeological work conducted in Sirmione and other localities of lake Garda, are displayed.
If you want to view from a separate prospective go to the stunning rock ledges at the foot of the villa and swim from the boat (just be careful of the Ferry!).
The best way to enjoy the Lake is in the Lake. Ask us at reception about boat rental, kayak rental, sailing and more. Remember we have moorings for rental for those who come with their own boats.
